HBO vs. The Mormons

The Church Of Latter Day Saints, otherwise known as the Mormons, got their chastity belts in a bunch over an upcoming episode of Big Love that depicts a sacred Mormon temple ceremony. “Obviously, it was not our intention to do anything disrespectful to the church, but to those who may be offended, we offer our sincere apology,” the premium cable channel said in a statement issued Tuesday. But the ceremony is an important part of the “Big Love” story line, HBO said. In the scene, actress Jeanne Tripplehorn’s character, Barb, goes through the endowment ceremony as she faces losing her membership in the Mormon church. Source

Duffy’s first time is a 3-some!

Welsh singer Duffy has scored a Brit Awards hat-trick, picking up three prizes including the coveted statue for best British album. The 24-year-old fought back tears as she accepted the award, saying it was the result of “five years’ work”. Duffy was also named best British female and won the British breakthrough award at the ceremony in west London. @ BBC For some reason, I’m one of the few that’s not really impressed by Duffy, but it might be time to give her a second look. Mimi Denies Diva-ing Out on Barack

Mariah Carey is just too popular for her own good! Those reports that were floating around last week that Mimi snubbed Barack Obama ’s inauguration ceremony because she wouldn’t be seated on the ceremony stage with him are absolutely false, says her mouthpiece! The “ruckus” fans were causing at the event forced Mimi to flee, or so they claim. Says Mimoo’s spokesbitch: “When she and Nick arrived in their section, she was surrounded by fans, but unfortunately it caused too much of a ruckus and it became a little unsafe. She was then escorted to safety by police.” According to early reports, that’s not what went down. A source supposedly saw Mimz angrily leave the ceremony after discovering she would be sat with other celebrities, instead of standing alongside Obama at the inaugural podium: “Mariah was in the VIP area, where every celebrity, like Jon Bon Jovi, Mary J. Blige, Alicia Keys and Bruce Springsteen, was seated. But somehow she thought she’d be up with the Obama family. So the SAG awards were last night. You might know them by their alternate name, the “Not Golden Globes or Oscars Awards.” Some of the big winners (full list here ) at the ceremony were Sean Penn, Kate Winslet , 30 Rock , Heath Ledger, and Slumdog Millionaire . And can we get some noise for Katie Holmes ’s nipple in that dress? Talk about SAG! Bet you didn’t see that one coming.
