Former Law & Order actress and avid Republican Angie Harmon has revealed some “facts” about Republicans that we had no clue about! While defending former VP nom Sarah Palin ’s daughter, Bristol Palin , and her controversial pregnancy (unwed teenaged mother), Harmon stated that ” one of the greatest things about the Republican Party is the understanding, we don’t point fingers and we have class .” Say what???? Republicans are understanding? Your idea of an April Fool’s joke, Angie??? [ Images via WENN / AP Images .]

Bristol Palin And Fiance Spit

March 12, 2009 by Sebastin · Leave a Comment

Bristol Palin and her fiance Levi Johnston have officially split. The breakup reportedly occured a few weeks ago and was a mutual decision. Bristol, the 18-year-old daughter of Alaska Governor Sarah Palin, spoke with FOX News in February and told Greta Van Susteren that she and Levi – who are parents to 2-month-old son, Tripp – expected to get married after they completed high school. “It kind of just happened,” says the source, referring to the split. “I thought they would stick it out. But I think they can work together to raise Tripp.” “I’m not sure what caused [them to break up] – it’s common knowledge,” says another source who knows the family. I guess Bristol isn’t going to be the Republican poster child after all! She might be able to sign a deal with Airstream though. Source

The Republican National Committee Elects First African American Chair

Obama effect? On Friday, the Republican National Committee appointed Michael Steele , a former Maryland lieutenant governor, as its chairman. He is the first African American to hold this post. Interesting choice. If the party was not in peril of being totally irrelevant or if there was no Obama, would Mr. Steele’s selection have happened? Thoughts? [ Image via AP Images. ]

The Fight for Open Minnesota Senate Seat Is Still Going On

January 21, 2009 by Sebastin · Leave a Comment

Who the heck knows when they’ll sort this shiz out! On Wednesday, a three-judge panel was reportedly taking up Democrat Al Franken ’s motion to dismiss Republican Norm Coleman ’s suit over the Senate recount results. Franken’s people say Minnesota law and the U.S. Constitution prevent Norm and his boys from waging an ‘exhaustive review of the recount’ that was certified by the state Canvassing Board and gives the U.S. Senate power to fill the seat. Norm of course countered and said he has rights to challenge the finding. Just toss a coin, guys! Kidding. May justice prevail. [ Image via Getty Images. ]

Hill’s on the Hill for Senate Confirmation Hearing. Bill’s Dealings Still a Cause for Concern

January 13, 2009 by Sebastin · Leave a Comment

What a Tuesday for Hillary Clinton ! The former presidential candidate is being grilled all day today by the U.S. Senate’s Foreign Relations Committee for the Secretary of State nomination. Apparently if the panel votes in her favor, she could be confirmed by the whole Senate by Inauguration Day. Miz Clinton was accompanied to the hearing by her daughter, Chelsea. It was smart of them to have Bubba stay back. Although she’s said to have bipartisan support for the top diplomat spot, concerns were raised about her husband’s, former president Clinton, money grabbing from foreign governments. Committe chair, Democrat John Kerry , said in his opening statement that while the committee still had some questions with respect to the fundraising activities of the Clinton Foundation, he was pleased that Hill would be addressing them directly at the hearing. Senator Lugar of Indiana, the top Republican on the committee, commented that foreign governments could perceive donations to Bubba’s library as a way to get some special attention from her as Madame Secretary. Lugar said in his opening remarks that he did not expect the issue to be a barrier to Hillary’s confirmation, but he called on the . Clinton Foundation to stop accepting foreign donations. Bill’s always gotta complicate things for Hil! [ Images via WENN. ]

Election Board Expected to Declare Al Franken as Winner of ‘Recounted’ Minnesota Senate Race

January 5, 2009 by Joe · Leave a Comment

According to new reports , Minnesota’s Canvassing Board is expected to announce today that Democrat Al Franken received the most overall votes from the nearly 3 million ballots cast for Senator on election day – way back in November. Franken apparently has a a 225-vote lead over the incumbent, Republican Norm Coleman . But things probably won’t be settled even after the announcement! There’s a seven-day waiting period before an election certificate is completed and if any lawsuits are filed during that waiting period, certification is conditional until the issue is settled in court. Lawyers for both campaigns have supposedly already laid the groundwork for lawsuits. Coleman’s lawyers promised a lawsuit over their claim that some ballots duplicated on election night wound up being counted twice in the recount and also have a petition pending before the state Supreme Court to include 650 ballots that it says were improperly rejected but not forwarded by local officials to St. Paul for counting. Will this thing ever get settled????? The Senate goes back to work on Tuesday. Guess Minnesota won’t be fully represented in the halls of government! Should there be a revote??? What A Whiner!

December 17, 2008 by · Leave a Comment

Elizabitch Hasselbeck complained on The View this week that she didn’t receive her usual invitation to the White House Christmas party. Boo-hoo! She said on the show, “I love Christmas cards. I love getting them. There is one in particular that I usually like, and it’s an invitation to the White House Christmas party. Not the big one but the 20th one down the road that you get the leftovers at the party. I’d be going to that one. No invitation this year. Maybe I didn’t do enough for the Republican party this year.” Or, maybe, just MAYBE, now that the President is leaving office, he has no need for you anymore! Though Karl T. Nilsson, the executive publicity director of The View, said yesterday that “Following today’s live show, Elisabeth received a call from the The White House, and they both had a great conversation.” he President’s office apologized and explained that she and her husband were indeed invited to the White House for Christmas and were sorry that it did not arrive. It was simply an oversight.” Yeah, right. Hasselbeck complained and they then invited her. Desperate! [ Image via WENN .]
