Poor Neil Patrick Harris ! The How I Met Your Mother star ran into a major mishap during the rehearsals for Sunday night’s TV Land Awards . His tuxedo caught on fire!! Harris, who had hosting duties for the night, found out just how flammable his tux was during the practice of a stunt that was to follow a pre-taped skit with Survivor ’s Jeff Probst . Remote packs secured to his back to emanate a cloud of smoke ended up igniting while NPH was trying to change from his island-dweller rags into the tux! “He just had some welts on his back,” said a TV Land Awards spy. “He didn’t have to be taken to a hospital or anything like that.” Glad to hear! Christina Applegate Picks Up TV Land Innovator Award

She’s been an American pop culture staple since her days on “Married With Children,” and last night Christina Applegate joined her former castmates at the 2009 TV Land Awards. The “Samantha Who” hottie looked gorgeous as she schmoozed with fellow attendees, sporting a shiny green strapless gown with a prom-style updo. And when it came time for the Innovator Award, Applegate joined Ed O’Neill, David Faustino, and Katey Sagal onstage to accept the trophy. The 2009 TV Land Awards are scheduled to air on April 26th at 8pm on the TV Land cable network, and will be hosted by “How I Met Your Mother” stud Neil Patrick Harris and “30 Rock” funnyman Judah Friedlander.

Ashlee Simpson Makes it to “Melrose Place”

She’s totally pumped about her gig on the remake of “Melrose Place,” and yesterday (April 16) Ashlee Simpson was spotted showing her appreciation with some delectable goodies. The “Pieces of Me” songstress showed up at the downtown Los Angeles set with a bag of baked goods from the Sprinkles cupcake shop, smiling from ear to ear. On the previous night, Ashlee joined her mother Tina and sister Jessica for dinner at the swanky sushi restaurant Katsuya. The Simpson ladies enjoyed a fancy night out, dining next to Maroon 5 frontman Adam Levine, looking marvelous as they left the restaurant.

Talking about the reality series, which begins airing this week, Peter told press: “There is something different with this show – you’re going to see Kate very happy! That’s different, isn’t it?” Meanwhile, Jordan cleared up rumors about her supposed Mother’s Day clubbing, saying: “Oh my God, that’s old news!
