Joseph Gordon-Levitt Does ‘Details’ Magazine

July 6, 2010 by Sebastin · Leave a Comment

Actor Joseph Gordon-Levitt is featured on the cover and in the pages of the new issue of Details magazine and talks in his coverstory interview about his love of marijuana, tabloid culture, the paparazzi and more! Here is our first look at JGL ‘s Details cover and some excperts from his interview : On whether he was frustrated after the end of 3rd Rock From The Sun : “I would answer that question with a resounding yes. I was scared and depressed for a while. Not that I had any reason to fuking be depressed—I mean, I was going to college and everything. It was not like I was hungry. But absolutely. I was like, ‘Shit, I don’t know if anybody’s gonna let me act. They’ll let me be in another sitcom, but I don’t want to do that. This is terrible.’ Yeah.” On curbing his pot smoking : “When I was in high school, I loved smoking weed. I loved it. But I cut myself to once a month. That was my rule. And so as the first of the month came closer, my friends would be like, ‘All right, what’s the plan this weekend?’ And actually it’s really cool—when you do it that infrequently, you can really trip. In hindsight, could I have smoked weed on the weekends? Yeah. But it was cool to do it once a month. I still do that sometimes—I go on little weedfests. I’m a pothead. That’s my drug of choice.” On tabloid culture being toxic : “It’s a bunch of bullshit, a waste of time. It depresses me. And I’m not easily depressed. When I’m at the grocery store, those magazines—they always suck me in. I go, ‘I can’t f–kin’ believe that this is what we’re looking at.’ It’s really sad. Why shouldn’t there be beautiful works of art on the grocery stands? Like Bob Dylan said, you know, art doesn’t belong in museums, it belongs in gas stations… Even in a purely selfish way, I would absolutely argue that you are bringing bad shit your way by consuming and enjoying that kind of hostility.” On one day being hunted down by paparazzi : “Look, I’ve met some nice guys who take pictures like that. I don’t want to demonize anybody. But I do think that this notion that certain people are in a higher class than other people is unhealthy. We would be healthier as a people if we quit paying attention to that kind of bullshit and paid more attention to more pertinent things and more beautiful things.” Well, how’s that for honesty. While it comes as no surprise to learn that JGL is a self-professed “pothead” (after all, there have been plenty of times I’ve guessed that he was under the influence of marijuana … like, for example, all thruout the film G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra ) I am a bit surprised that he would be so open about his love of weed in a magazine coverstory. I suppose it may help remove some of the stigma but, then again, it may inspire a new crop of potheads to take up the smokey-smoke. After the jump, check out a few photos from JGL ‘s Details magazine photospread … Joseph Gordon-Levitt is really one of those guys who can look slick all the time … he wears suits well and I’m glad that he likes wearing them often. The dressy look is so not me but I can appreciate it on the right guy. To be honest, I’ve been impressed with every JGL movie I’ve ever seen … if weed is the secret to his success, then I say smoke on! [ Source ]

Lindsay Lohan SCRAMs, Returns To Court

July 6, 2010 by Sebastin · Leave a Comment

Back in May, you may recall, Linday Lohan went to court to answer to charges that she failed to be in compliance with the probation sentence imposed on her due to her DUI conviction from 2007. We learned that Lindsay was ordered to wear a SCRAM alcohol-monitoring bracelet and had to appear in court again on July 6 to gauge her compliance with her probation sentence. Today is July 6 and, if you can believe it, Lindsay managed to show up in court to face the judge again : Lindsay Lohan arrived about 10 minutes early at a Beverly Hills courthouse on Tuesday for a probation revocation hearing that could end with the actress either headed for jail or her next movie role. The “Mean Girls” star could be sent to jail if a judge finds that the starlet violated her probation. Lohan’s father, Michael, also attended the hearing. A judge scheduled the hearing after Lohan missed a court date in May. She has been required to wear an ankle alcohol monitor since then. If Lohan is ordered jailed, she will be taken into custody immediately. The length of her stay will be determined by Lohan’s sentence, Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department spokesman Steve Whitmore said. He said inmates serving nonviolent offenses typically serve about a quarter of their sentence, although several factors are considered … If the actress remains free she could lose a hated accessory — an ankle alcohol monitor that she has been required to wear since late May. Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Marsha Revel revoked Lohan’s probation in May after the actress missed a court hearing to promote a film project at the Cannes Film Festival. Lohan claimed her passport was stolen, but Revel ordered her to wear the alcohol monitor upon her return. She also scheduled the evidentiary hearing that will be held Tuesday morning to determine whether Lohan violated her probation, and to what extent. Weeks later, the monitor issued an alert after Lohan attended the MTV Movie Awards and its after-parties. Revel promptly doubled Lohan’s bail to $200,000. Prosecutors called it an “alcohol-related” violation, but Lohan’s attorney, Shawn Chapman Holley, downplayed the incident … Regardless of the outcome, Tuesday’s hearing won’t be the last reminder for Lohan of the court case and her arrests. She will soon be questioned about her drug use three years ago by civil attorneys representing a woman suing Lohan. The actress’ attorney persuaded a judge to delay that deposition until after Tuesday’s hearing so that her answers couldn’t be used against her in the criminal case. Because this is all happening in the court system here in LA, Lindsay ‘s appearance today is airing LIVE on local news stations: The prosecutor in this case is really gunning to punish Lindsay for her alleged probation violation. She is arguing that the fact that Lindsay ‘s SCRAM bracelet was set off is an indication that she did consume alcohol, in violation of her probation and as a result she should be punished more severely (ie. jail). There is a lot of back and forth about evidence so my guess is that nothing significant will be ruled on today. My guess is that the case will be recessed until more evidence can be introduced and a ruling will be made then. Lindsay will likely not go to jail today but will prolly have to keep wearing the SCRAM bracelet. I’ll update if something more signifcant occurs but it looks like no major decisions will be made today … at least, not yet. [Photo credit: Splash News ; Source ]

Sandra Bullock and Louis Bardo Run Errands In Austin, TX

July 6, 2010 by Sebastin · Leave a Comment

Back in April we learned the surprising news that Sandra Bullock secretly adopted a baby boy she named Louis Bardo and then a day later we got to “meet” the little dude in the pages of People magazine . Today we get our first look at Louis out and about with his mother as they did a bit of errand running in Austin, TX over the weekend: I can’t even STAND how absolutely adorable little Louis is. I know Sandra has been thru a lot this year already — from the high of winning her first Academy Award to the low of having to endure horrible mistreatment by her slime-ball of an ex-husband — but bringing Louis Bardo into her life has to be the greatest accomplishment she has ever achieved. Mother and son seem so well-suited for one another, I know they will enjoy a lifetime of happiness together. Sandra is so lucky to have such a precious child in her life but Louis is pretty lucky too … after all, he’s got himself a pretty cool mom. I love these two together … they are just the cutest ever! Prince Declares That The Internet Is ‘Completely Over’

July 6, 2010 by Sebastin · Leave a Comment

Just last week we started hearing about a new Prince album titled 20TEN that is scheduled to be released for free in publications all across Europe in the coming weeks and today, in conjunction with that album release, we get to hear from Prince himself in a new interview with the British newspaper The Daily Mirror . In much the same way that Prince has been promoting his albums for the last few years, Prince invited the reporter into his home to spend the day with him in order to get a taste of Prince ‘s life, ending with a sit down interview to cap off the experience. For the most part, this latest interview/experience with the Daily Mirror played out in the same way but it’s the quotes that Prince gave to the paper that are getting all the attention this time around. According to Prince , the Internet is “completely over” in an “outdated” way. Now, how could the man who released his last album online via a website that charged $77 for access and only a few years ago distributed his music EXCLUSIVELY on the Internet at NPGMusicClub.com say such a thing? Well, read on to find out: Prince agreed to his first British newspaper interview for 10 years before his eagerly anticipated new album 20TEN which, in the biggest music giveaway of the year, will be released free in the UK only in the Daily Mirror this Saturday. The interview almost doesn’t happen. Then it’s on as long as I can meet him the very next day at his home town of Minneapolis in the US Midwest (and I’m ordered not to bring a camera, mobile phone or tape recorder) … “Hi,” he says, “I’m so glad you could come.” His voice is deeper than I expected, he’s certainly small (5ft 2in at most), looks almost half his age (52), and is dressed immaculately, if oddly, in white silk trousers, flouncy green silk shirt, an ivory tunic and white pumps (which, I suspect, are stacked). “You must come and listen to the album,” he says. “I hope you like it. It’s great that it will be free to readers of your newspaper. I really believe in finding new ways to distribute my music.” He explains that he decided the album will be released in CD format only in the Mirror. There’ll be no downloads anywhere in the world because of his ongoing battles against internet abuses. Unlike most other rock stars, he has banned YouTube and iTunes from using any of his music and has even closed down his own official website. He says: “The internet’s completely over. I don’t see why I should give my new music to iTunes or anyone else. They won’t pay me an advance for it and then they get angry when they can’t get it. The internet’s like MTV. At one time MTV was hip and suddenly it became outdated. Anyway, all these computers and digital gadgets are no good. They just fill your head with numbers and that can’t be good for you.” While I love Prince ‘s music more than most music I’ve ever heard in my life, I cannot help but shake my head at the silliness that the man spouts in his interviews these days. To be clear, the man is a musical genius … it’s when he goes into social commentary that he loses me. The full interview can be read HERE and it is chock full of religion (“young people, don’t have enough God in their lives”) but no commentary about his past (“I don’t talk about the past”) or about the late Michael Jackson (“Next question”). In recent years he has railed against You Tube and even his own fans who dare to use his image on any of their websites in much the same way that a crotchety old person might vehemently oppose something not quite understood. His assertion that the Internet is “over” is absolutely ridiculous … what he should say is that his involvement with the Internet is over. Prince is very lucky to live with the kind of wealth that affords him the luxury to give away his albums and to wage war with his own fans without fear of reprisal or financial ruin. While I love the man’s music, I do my best to steer clear of his opinions because it’s stuff like this “the Internet is over” bologna that just makes him look old, outdated and “over”. Prince played a concert in Berlin, Germany yesterday where no interviews were given, no commentary was espoused and I understand it was a fantastic show. After the jump, check out some photos from his performance … Yes, I am absolutely excited for Prince ‘s new album 20TEN . Yes, I will continue to be a staunch fan of his music. No, I really don’t need to read any more interviews from the man but thankfully, he doesn’t give them often. And despite his seeming hatred for the Information Superhighway, I’m convinced that Prince will have to resort to using it for his advantage in some way … like, say, to get word out that he’s got a new album on the way.
