Jennifer Lopez Suggests She Didn’t Want The ‘American Idol’ Judging Job Anyway

August 13, 2010 by Sebastin · Leave a Comment

After hearing last month that Jennifer Lopez was close to signing on as one of the judges on the Fox reality TV series American Idol , we learned earlier this week that Fox decided to pass on bringing J. Lo on as an AI judge reportedly because her diva demands got too out of control. In the wake of all the talk of Jennifer ‘s “firing” from a job she never really had in the first place, J. Lo posted an image on her official Twitter profile that seems to suggest that she is not at all upset that she won’t be judging American Idol … apparently because she is too bizzy deciding with of her numerous diamonds to wear: Along with this photo, J. Lo tweeted Hmmm… what should I wear today? which, IMHO, suggests to her numerous Twitter followers that she’s got more important things to do than worry about judging one of the most popular TV shows in America right now. To that I say, Yeah right . But, I guess we won’t have to keep ourselves up at night worrying about J. Lo and her bank account. La Diva Latina is swimming in diamonds, there is no need to worry about her at all. In any event, now that Jennifer Lopez is deffo out … TMZ is reporting that Fox has an ace replacement idea up their sleeve … and her name is Shania Twain . Read more, after the jump … “American Idol” sources tell TMZ … the Jennifer Lopez deal isn’t dead yet, but if it does flatline … “Idol’s” next choice is country star Shania Twain. Shania was a hit on “Idol” this past season when she served as guest judge and mentor. We’re told Shania is Plan B. OMG … brilliant idea! What I want to know is why is Shania NOT Plan A? She is perfect for the show … likable, very talented and due for a major comeback. American Idol gave Paula Abdul a huge comeback … folks hadn’t seen or heard from Paula for years before she popped back onto the pop culture radar as an AI judge. Shania has been out of the spotlight for years as well … she would be perfect for American Idol … particularly because she was so good on the show last season as a guest judge. Fox , sign Shania now! Trust me, she will be the crown jewel of any AI judging panel. [ Source , Source ]

Macy’s Releases A Line Of Clothing Inspired By ‘Glee’

August 13, 2010 by Sebastin · Leave a Comment

Britney Spears has her own line of clothing … even Mike The Situation Sorrentino has his own line of clothing … now your fave autotuned Fox TV show has its own line of clothing as well . Macy’s department store, which earlier this month released Madonna ‘s juniors line called Material Girl , will be launching a line of clothing inspired by the hit Fox TV show Glee . Here is our first look at what is being offered so that rabid Gleeks can dress like their fave TV show: A line of clothing inspired by “Glee” is scheduled to go on sale this weekend at all Macy’s locations that sell apparel. That’s more than 600 stores. The clothes, made by Awake, will sell for $19.99 to $34.99 and are predominantly T-shirts and hoodies. The line is the result of a deal between the Macy’s division of Macy’s Inc. and Twentieth Century Fox Consumer Products, part of the News Corporation. Fox Broadcasting, which has renewed “Glee” for two more seasons, is also owned by the News Corporation. Macy’s has sold “a lot of licensed products” in the past, said Martine Reardon, executive vice president for marketing at Macy’s, but they have almost always been aimed at children and juveniles. The “Glee” line, by contrast, is meant for juniors, a retail term that refers to shoppers ages 16 to 24, and sometimes as old as 30. There are also plans for windows of Macy’s stores to display the “Glee” merchandise. And three cast members of “Glee” — Kevin McHale, who plays Artie; Heather Morris, who plays Brittany; and Jenna Ushkowitz, who plays Tina — are to appear at the Macy’s in the Beverly Center in Los Angeles on Aug. 21, Ms. Reardon said. My guess is that anything with Glee plastered on it will sell well these days … it reminds me of The Simpsons craze that sweeped the nation back in the 1990′s. Back then, you couldn’t turn your head without seeing a Don’t Have a Cow, Man t-shirt or see Bartman hanging in a store window. This Glee merchandise mania reminds me of that. I understand plans are in the works for a Glee comic book (the regular books based on Glee are already available for sale) and I know it won’t be long until Glee Happy Meals will be offered at McDonald’s or some other fast food restaurant. Don’t get me wrong, I would totally rock a WMHS t-shirt … but that’s because I love pop culture fads. How about you? Would you wear something from the Macy’s Glee Collection ? [ Source ]

Jennifer Lopez Will NOT Be A Judge On ‘American Idol’

August 11, 2010 by Sebastin · Leave a Comment

A couple weeks ago we learned the shocking news that Ellen DeGeneres quit and that Kara DioGuardi had been fired from their job as judges on American Idol … in their places, it was widely reported that Jennifer Lopez and Steven Tyler of Aerosmith would be taking their places on the judging panel. Fox made NO official confirmation that either J. Lo or Steven had been hired but it was believed they were both close to signing on to judge AI . Today, People magazine is reporting that sources close to the AI drama reveal that Jennifer Lopez will NOT be a judge on AI after all … reportedly because J. Lo ‘s demands got out of hand and Fox decided to let her go: Jennifer Lopez won’t be a judge on American Idol after all, according to a source close to the situation. The singer-actress had been closing a deal to be a permanent judge on the show for its upcoming 10th season but the deal fell apart. “Her demands got out of hand,” says the source. “Fox had just had enough.” With Simon Cowell and Ellen Degeneres both departing the talent search, the network had been pursuing a number of celebrities as potential judges, including Aerosmith‘s Steven Tyler. But now that Lopez is out of the running, the network may be looking at their earlier top picks again. Other reports have said that the panel could go back to the original three-judge format. HMMM … this is … interesting. Despite the fact that American Idol has been losing it’s luster, judging the show is still one of the most coveted jobs on TV right now. I cannot believe that Jennifer Lopez would do anything to jeopardize getting on the show … if this report of diva demands turns out to be true, then I guess J. Lo ‘s reputation as La Diva Latina lives on. It’s a bummer … I liked seeing the softer, fun side of J. Lo swinging on the swings last weekend … I was actually looking forward to seeing her on AI . I’m actually very surprised Idol is having this much trouble filling the judging positions … I wonder who will be chosen to replace J. Lo on American Idol now. [ Source ]

Jennifer Lopez Indulges Her Inner Child

August 9, 2010 by Sebastin · Leave a Comment

Jennifer Lopez , La Diva Latina herself, took her kiddies out for a playdate at a local playground here in SoCal over the weekend and decided to get in on some of the fun herself … it appears that she most enjoyed the swings : Any parent knows that having children gives you a licence to act like a big kid once in a while. Which is exactly what Jennifer Lopez did this weekend as she played about on a set of swings. The singer and actress had taken two-year-old twins Emme and Max to a play park in Los Angeles on the beach and couldn’t resist having a swing herself. She looked like she was having a whale of a time as she leaned backwards and swung upside down. The 41-year-old also twisted herself round and went for a spin as husband Marc Anthony, also 41, kept a watchful eye on the twins. Aww … looks like fun. J. Lo may have a reputation as a diva but it really looks like her young twins have been a great influence on her. This is a side of Jenny from the Block that I’d like to see more of. [ Source ]

Jane Lynch To Host ‘Saturday Night Live’

August 9, 2010 by Sebastin · Leave a Comment

Great news Saturday Night Live fans … the long running comedy sketch show managed to sign one of the funnest actresses on TV right now to host an upcoming episode of the show when it returns this Fall for its 36th season! It has been announced that Glee star Jane Lynch will host her very own ep of SNL in October ! Glee’s cast members can act, sing, and do comedy, but can they do all that live in front of millions of people? We’ll find out soon enough, as Movieline has exclusively learned that Saturday Night Live just tapped an Emmy-nominated actor from the cast to host one of the first shows of its upcoming 36th season. Fortunately, SNL selected the Glee actor with the most sketch comedy experience, as it’s Second City veteran Jane Lynch who will be hosting the October 9 edition of the show. We hope you all hitched your horses to the right Facebook petition. It promises to be a big fall for Lynch: She’s the frontrunner for the Supporting Actress in a Comedy trophy at the Emmy Awards on August 29, then she’ll return as villainous cheerleading coach Sue Sylvester when Glee has its second season premiere September 21. Yay!! This is amazing news! Jane Lynch is so hot right now, SNL is very smart to snap her up. I have no doubt that she’ll do a fantastic job. Much like Betty White was able to make the (usually bad) writing on SNL totally funny , I think Jane can do the same. This ep will be amazing, I just know it ;) [ Source ]

‘Max Headroom’ Returns

August 9, 2010 by Sebastin · Leave a Comment

Here’s a blast from the past that only those of you who were old enough to enjoy the bounty of the 1980′s will remember and appreciate (but you young’ns can learn a thing or two about a very cool, way-ahead-of-its-time TV show) — Max Headroom . The 80′s were full of movies and TV shows like Tron , Terminator , Back to the Future 2 and Max Headroom that focused on what technology of the future might look like. Max Headroom was a short-lived TV series that featured a talking head on a computer screen as the star of the show. While the TV series didn’t last very long, the character of Max Headroom enjoyed much more success in commercials, t-shirts and board games. The LA Times has written an article on the upcoming DVD debut of the Max Headroom TV series which reminded me of the show (yes, I watched it when it first aired on TV) so I thought I’d share it with all y’all: Set “Twenty minutes into the future,” the ABC series “Max Headroom” is now 23 years in the past. And on Tuesday, Shout! Factory is releasing all 14 episodes from the short-lived sci-fi-thriller-social-commentary. The series began with a bang — it premiered Tuesday, March 31, 1987 right after the “Moonlighting” episode in which Dave and Maddie finally get horizontal — but it went out quietly on Oct. 16 of that year after losing the Friday-night ratings battle with “Dallas” and “Miami Vice.” There was a time during the 1980s where you couldn’t escape the character of Max Headroom. The computer simulated personality hosted his own video music show and was a pitchman for Coke. Created for British television by George Stone, Annabel Jankel and Rocky Morton and starring Matt Frewer as Max, the character was known for his quick wit and electronically stuttering sampled voice. But before “The Max Headroom” video music show first aired, “Max Headroom: 20 Minutes Into the Future,” a movie that filled in the back-story for Max was broadcast in England in 1985. It was on that movie that the ABC series would be based … The movie and a six-week run of video music show aired here on Cinemax. Then the series based on the movie came to America with Frewer playing Edison and Max; Amanda Pays, from the original movie, as his producer Theora Jones; W. Morgan Sheppard, also from the original, as Blank Reg who is a friend of Edison who runs the underground network from his bus. Jeffrey Tambor played Murray, Edison’s boss, and Chris Young played the brain-boy Bryce. I remember being mesmerized with “Max Headroom,” even getting the opportunity to interview Frewer the day after the premiere. Set in a world that was part cyber-punk and part “Blade Runner,” the series somehow transformed L.A. into a dark, dank metropolis filled with the wealthy and the disenfranchised living on the fringe. It was a world run by corporations, a world where ratings were everything. Maybe the transformation wasn’t that tricky after all … Though the computer scenes are fun, it all seems a bit clunky now. There was a vague feeling in the 1980s about the way digital culture might manifest, but now that we’ve seen the real thing, “Headroom” is a quirky time capsule, a “Jetsons” with some scenes of peril and MTV production values … Still, it’s fun to watch Max pop up and crack wise. The character’s look was achieved with makeup and prosthetics not CG, and you know that will change if (or is it that “when”?) there’s a remake. I personally hope it does look like a dated time capsule because I doubt anyone who will watch the show now will look to it as something that is new, inventive or even remotely representative of how the future actually turned out. I was very young when Max Headroom was on TV and it was THE coolest thing to watch. We didn’t have computers, You Tube or easy access to computer animation … so when Max Headroom came out, it was a big jolt of wonder. True, the Max Headroom Coca-Cola commercials were more ubiquitous, I do fondly remember the TV series. After the jump, check out a vid clip that will remind (or inform) you of what Max Headroom was all about … Here is one of those famed Max Headroom Coke commercials: In all honesty, it doesn’t get any more cliched yet quintessentially 80′s than Max Headroom … and that is why I am really excited to get to see the TV series again. From a kid’s standpoint, the 80′s were a lot of fun … if this isn’t proof of that, then I don’t know what is. I cannot wait to relive my youth and have some fun all over again. Cold (Beach) Front

August 9, 2010 by Sebastin · Leave a Comment

Yesterday was (finally) an absolutely BEAUTIFUL warm and sunny day here in LA so I had to get out of the house, open up all the windows and sunroof on my car and get out so that I could enjoy it. I’m telling you, LA has been cool and gloom for most of the Summer so it was a real relief to enjoy a traditionally beautiful Summer Sunday for once. As the sun began to set, Darion and I trekked down to Manhattan Beach so that we could hang out with Josh and Emma … and freeze with them in the colder temps. Actually, it wasn’t that cold but since Emma decided to let Darion wear Josh’s parka so that he could keep warm we decided to have fun with it: We talked about going to see a movie but we ended up just eatin’ and drinkin’ together. It was really fun. Today I begin to prepare for David’s and my upcoming trip to Hawaii. Our dear friends Marissa and Ryan are gettin’ MAUIed next weekend and we will be heading to the 50th State on Wednesday. I’m really excited for our trip … neither one of us have ever been to HI so we’re really looking forward to gettin’ leied. Happy Monday, y’all … and Happy 08.09.10 Day!

Jennifer Lopez Does ‘Glamour’ Magazine

August 4, 2010 by Sebastin · Leave a Comment

Jennifer Lopez , La Diva Latina herself who is rumored to be one of the new judges on the upcoming season of American Idol , is featured on the cover and in the pages of the new issue of Glamour magazine. In her coverstory interview, J. Lo talks about the level of glam she enjoys in her life even when she’s not in front of the camera … her accompanying photospread also highlights the sexy glamor in her life featuring Jenny from the Block in sexy animal print — meow! Here is our first look at J. Lo ‘s new Glamour magazine coverphoto and some excerpts from her coverstory : Jennifer Lopez has lived through everything from dress scandals to the reviews for “Gigli,” but she doesn’t regret a minute of it. Of course, as she told Glamour magazine in their September issue, she’s had some “ups and downs” like everyone else, including “super highs and some really low lows.” But she added, “I’ve been so blessed that I could never say, ‘I wish this didn’t happen.’ It’s part of who I am. There’s nothing in my life that’s so ‘ugh.’” Of course, there are some memories that may make her cringe, “but not where I’m worried about [Max and Emme] finding out,” she said. “I’ll tell them myself. No secrets from them.” Lopez, 41, had twins Max and Emme in 2008 with husband Marc Anthony, whom she married in 2004. Anthony, she said, is “a passionate person, and he’s the same way with his kids, and I love it. When it comes to all his kids, he’s mush, whatever they want.” He’s probably mush when it comes to what Lopez wants as well – the actress said she doesn’t slack off in the glamour department just because she happens to be at home. “I like to maintain a certain sense of fantasy in my life,” Lopez said, adding that yes, she is a bit like the high-fashion photo shoots readers see in magazines. “Do I have the full hair and makeup? No. But I might have the nice dress on.” It’s all about maintaining a certain state of mind, Lopez told Glamour – and the same theory applies to how to handle feelings of doubt. “If you feel in your mind you can do it, you can do it. You cannot doubt yourself. Doubt is a killer,” she said. ” You just have to know who you are and what you stand for. You can have a great mentor, a great partner, a great love in your life who gives you confidence and makes you feel great about yourself. And that’s all wonderful, but at the end of the day, if you don’t believe it, all of that means nothing.” Well, we guess we know how she feels about her qualifications to be an “Idol” judge… Glamour got really lucky with the timing of this magazine cover, now that everyone is buzzing about the rumor that J. Lo will join American Idol as a judge, there is a lot of interest to read anything Lopez -related. I still contend that J. Lo on Idol will be a good fit … she’s just as qualified to judge the competition as Paula Abdul was and I’m certain she’ll be more lucid. But, Fox has made NO official announcement about the new judges on AI so we’re still not 100% sure that J. Lo will be on the show … what we do know is that she looks fantastic in her Glamour photospread. After the jump, check out a few photos of J. Lo in the September issue of Glamour … I’m not usually a fan of animal print but it kinda works well in this spread. I love the photo of J. Lo reclined on the couch while reading Valley of the Dolls . Jennifer Lopez does the retro look very well, this shoot is very cool. So, while we wait to find out if Jenny will be judging American Idol , I guess we can bizzy ourselves with her spread in Glamour mag. You can read the online portion of her interview HERE . Amy Winehouse Suffers A Setback

August 4, 2010 by Sebastin · Leave a Comment

Yesterday we saw a couple of (marginally disturbing) photos of former (yet, possible still) trainwrecks Amy Winehouse and Mischa Barton hanging out together at a pub in London, England . As we should all be well aware by now, both Amy and Mischa have had their share of troubles in the past but have both attempted to clean up their lives in recent months. It would appear that my concerns about these ladies hanging out together were warranted … because after they were spotted together, Amy seems to take a turn for the worse … and appears to have fallen off the wagon : Ugh … Amy looks like she is really down in the dumps. To be honest, I don’t really believe that Mischa ‘s influence on Amy is what caused her spiral downward again … but the timing does seems suspicious, don’t it? In fact, it turns out that Amy had a bit of a falling out with her boyfriend Reg Traviss and was spotted sprawled out in a messy slump on a picnic table in front of the pub owned by Traviss ‘s parents. After the jump, check out a photo of Amy wrecked out on said table … SMASHED AMY WINEHOUSE lies flaked out on a pub table at 9.30am yesterday after falling off the wagon following a row with her new boyfriend. The Back to Black singer, who has famously battled drink and drugs, was snapped outside the boozer owned by her film producer fella REG TRAVISS’s parents. When she woke up, she was nearly run over as she stumbled across a street on the way to her nearby home, where she sat talking into her phone. Amy, 26, took a taxi to Inn 1888 in London’s Marylebone after a session with pals that began at 5pm Monday … She broke off only briefly at 10pm before resuming her tour of Camden, the West End and Chinatown. A source said: “I was told Amy ordered champagne and the group tucked into it before starting on pink cocktails. They were having a great time.” Amy, by now sporting a new outfit, finally left Chinatown at 9.15am and headed for the Inn, where she first met Reg, 33. There, cabbie Michael Prenpeh asked for his fare, but Amy wandered off and fell asleep at the table. Michael said: “She was totally gone. She’d no idea what she was doing. She said her boyfriend had no respect for her and was blubbing away – I gave her a tissue.” An onlooker said: “A car nearly hit her as she walked in the road. It had to brake really hard.” It turns out that Amy ran into Mischa during her party session on Monday and then got sloshed to the point of passing out on the picnic table. Ugh. It is such a shame to see Amy do this to herself over and over and over … despite the fact that she manages to clean up a bit from time to time she always seems to go back to this kind of messy behavior. What a waste … hopefully she’ll clean up again and for good before it’s too late. [Photo credit: Bauer-Griffin ; Source ]
