Madonna: Adoption Appeal Date Set

She was devastated when the Malawian court system denied her application to adopt a 3-year-old orphan, and now Madonna has begun mounting an appeal. The “Like a Virgin” songstress is scheduled to be heard on May 4th as she continues to attempt to bring Chifundo “Mercy” James home to live with her adopted son David Banda and naturally-born kids Rocco and Lourdes. And come her court date next month, Madge will meet privately with three Supreme Court of Appeal judges.  Official Joseph Chigona told press, “As with all court cases involving infants, this one will be in chambers, not in an open court.” Madonna’s Malawian lawyer Alan Chinula says he has high hopes for the appeal.  “We believe the lower court judge erred by basing her judgment on an archaic law of over 50 years ago.”

Madonna Returns To London Absolutely Devastated, Greeted By Guy

After the shocking decision to not allow Madonna to adopt amotherless Malawian toddler, Madge and her fam packed their bags and returned to London on Monday to spend the upcoming Passover holiday across the pond. Madonna is said to be heartbroken over the judge’s ruling, telling friends “I can’t believe I’m leaving my beautiful baby behind. It’s not right. I love that baby girl… She’s my little girl – she needs to be with me.” The judge believed that the adoption would promote child trafficking, explaining, “By removing the very safeguard that is supposed to protect our children, the courts by their pronouncements could actually facilitate trafficking of children by some unscrupulous individuals who would take advantage of the weakness of the law of the land.” Even so, we still can’t believe the court rejected the adoption!!! Mercy James’ uncle, Peter Baneti, even supports his niece being adopted by Madge! “We as a family discussed this and agreed that it is in the best interests of Mercy to have her adopted, so why should the judge stop this if the family is OK with it?” argued Baneti. Madonna has informed her lawyer, Alan Chinula, to “Do whatever you can to get me my Mercy; I can’t imagine her going back to the orphanage,” regarding the appeal of the court’s ruling. Mercy’s birth father, James Kambewa, does not believe the adoption is the right path for his daughter, stating, “I bear no grudge against Madonna. But I am Mercy’s father and I want her to stay with me… I will make it plain that my daughter will be staying in Malawi with me.” So why is your daughter in an orphanage???? Surprisingly, ex-husband Guy Ritchie was spotted at London’s Luton Airport when Madonna’s private jet landed, greeting his adopted son David Banda on the tarmac. Even though Madge and Ritchie didn’t exchange words, it’s been reported that Ritchie has fully supported Madonna’s decision to adopt. Here’s to hoping the appeal is successful!!! Chris Heads To Court, Working On A Plea Bargain

Chris Beat Her Down Brown is expected in a Los Angeles court today to answer charges that he severely assaulted then-girlfriend Rihanna during an altercation in February. And according to reports , Brown is planning on entering a “Not Guilty” plea. RiRi is currently in Barbados, celebrating her grandparents’ 50th anniversary, and hoping to be as far away from this legal drama as possible. A source reveals about the case that “It’s expected to be resolved at some point soon. Rihanna wants it resolved as well.” Sources add that if Brown doesn’t plead “Not Guilty” to the two felony counts against him, he’ll instead ask to have the arraignment postponed, again. Chris is trying everything in order to avoid jail time. The other problem with going to trial in this case is that Rihanna apparently doesn’t want to cooperate, which she should! Anna Nicole Smith’s Lawyer Denies Any Wrongdoing!

Howard K. Stern was arrested on Thursday and charged with multiple felonies – including conspiracy to furnish drugs – in the overdose death of Anna Nicole Smith . Now, the former Playmate’s longtime companion/lawyer is speaking out through his own attorney and talking a lot of shiz! Stern’s lawyer, Krista Bath, claims that Howie is a victim of lies and not a felon! She says: “For over two years, I have represented Howard K. Stern in connection with civil litigation arising out his relationship with Anna Nicole Smith and false accusations published about him, including representing Mr. Stern in the body custody proceedings. In the course of that litigation, I have spent hundreds of hours reviewing depositions under oath or interviews of almost every principal witness claiming to possess first hand knowledge of Mr. Stern’s relationship with Anna Nicole [Smith]. His accusers have been shown to have no credibility due to their conflicting stories, to have a bias based on their own personal agendas or to have no factual basis to support their accusations. Given the knowledge obtained from these various cases, I am confident that the criminal charges brought against Mr. Stern last evening by the State of California will likewise be shown to have no factual basis and that Mr. Stern will ultimately be exonerated with respect to his conduct. “I would remind the public that the fundamental principle of our criminal justice system is that an individual is presumed innocent. Publicity efforts by the State of California last night and today in connection with the filing of the charges against Mr. Stern are inconsistent with that principle and jeopardize Mr. Stern’s constitutional right to a fair trial. With formal charges having been filed, this case should not be tried in the court of public opinion and Mr. Stern has no intention of doing so. However, Mr. Stern and I are mindful of the reality that he has for the past several years found himself on trial in the media. The media trial of Mr. Stern has been based on constant shouts of guilty from a barrage of uninformed commentators based on totally inaccurate and often manufactured “facts.” The television, tabloid and Internet trial of Mr. Stern in the court of public opinion has been based on sensational lies, speculation, rumor and gossip. Unfortunately, it appears that criminal charges have now been brought by the State of California based on this same type of misinformation . “Mr. Stern will continue efforts to have the evidence in his civil cases unsealed and made available for public inspection and review so that hopefully any future media discussions will be informed ones, based on the actual facts and not sensationalized accusations that have no factual or legal merit. If this occurs, future discussions will focus on Mr. Stern’s innocence.” Typical lawyer crap!

DMX Says He "Didn’t Mean" It

DMX says he didn’t ” mean to commit identity fraud.” He checked into an Arizona hospital under a false name and then left without paying the bill. He claims to have used the alias to avoid receiving star struck attention, and that he gave the receptionist his cell phone number before ducking out so they could make arrangements for payment. Yeah, we’re sure the court will be down with that! Right now, DMX is awaiting sentencing for 4 accounts of animal cruelty, drug possession, and theft in three separate cases. But he didn’t mean it! He’s so misunderstood!

Kelly Rutherford’s Divorce Gets Nasty!

Kelly Rutherford filed for divorce from Daniel Giersch December 30, three weeks after she announced that she was pregnant with their second child. The couple has a two-year-old son, Hermés, together. Since then, the couple has been locked in a fierce battle. Rutherford claims that she fears Giersch will flee to Germany with their child. …[Daniel] kept yelling at me in front of Hermes, and threatening that he was going to take Hermes,’ she said in the Jan. 16 court filing. ‘[He] kept saying that I was ‘going to learn,’ and that he was ‘going to teach [me] a lesson.’” ‘[Daniel] had cornered me and come within inches of my face. He would not back away,’ Rutherford claims in the court papers. ‘I was crying and [he] was yelling at me.
