First Look: Natalie Portman In ‘Black Swan’

Director Darren Aronofsky , who found success with his brilliant films Requiem for a Dream and The Wrestler , has set his sights on the world of ballet for his next film. Black Swan stars Natalie Portman and Mila Kunis in a “dark” “psychological” tale about 2 ballet dancers in NYC. To be honest, I’ve heard very little about this film but what I’ve heard is pretty impressive. Here is our first look at Portman in Black Swan and some deets about the film itself : The Venice International Film Festival apparently can’t get enough of Darren Aronofsky, even if he has switched his focus from muscle-bound men to dainty dancers. The director took home a Golden Lion, the event’s top prize, for The Wrestler in 2008. Now he has been given the honor of opening this year’s 11-day event on Sept. 1 with Black Swan, a ballet-themed thriller due in late fall. “The cast and crew of Black Swan are both excited and humbled by the selection committee’s invitation,” Aronofsky said in a press announcement. “It is an honor to walk the great red carpet on the Lido, and we are excited to premiere our film to the wonderful audiences in Venice.” The dark tale with psychological twists stars Natalie Portman as Nina, a technically brilliant ballerina whose life takes some strange turns after being picked as the lead in a New York City production of Swan Lake. Pressures mount as her overbearing mother (Barbara Hershey) pushes her to succeed and her manipulative dance master (Vincent Cassel) commands her to be more seductive and loose in her performance. Complicating matters is the arrival of Lily (Mila Kunis), a sultry dancer who exhibits all the innate ease and sexuality that Nina lacks. Nina begins to fixate on the newcomer as the two forge an unusual relationship. “The worldwide attention given to the Venice film festival provides an exciting launch for Black Swan,” says Nancy Utley, president of Fox Searchlight. “We are very proud of our collaboration with Darren.” After its premiere in Venice, The Wrestler went on to awards season glory, earning actor Mickey Rourke his first Oscar nomination and a chance at a career comeback. Fox Searchlight, which bought The Wrestler at the Toronto film festival after its Venice success, has similar hopes for Black Swan— and especially for Portman, who was nominated for an Oscar for her supporting part in 2004′s Closer. As the actress tells USA TODAY about her troubled Nina: “The character was very interesting to play, always challenging and surprising. The fact that I had spent so much time with the idea — Darren and I started discussing doing the film in 2000 — allowed it to marinate a little before we shot.” Altho this article is light on actual deets about the film, I’ve heard from a few people who have seen an early version of the film that it is an amazing film. I am a huge Aronofsky fan — ever since Requiem for a Dream (which remains one of my all-time fave films) — so I’m really curious to see what he can do with a ballet story. I’m guessing the “usual relationship” between Portman ‘s character and Kunis ‘s character will be where the crux of the “dark tale” will lie. Dannii Minogue Steps Out With Her Newborn Baby Boy

Just a little over a week ago we got our very first look at Dannii Minogue and babydaddy Kris Smith ‘s newborn baby boy Ethan Edward … today we get to check out a new pic of the little lad as shared by his father on his official Twitter account . Additionally, Dannii has already recovered enough so that she can take her precious baby boy out and about in public . Here are photos of the proud parents enjoying some time outside of the home for the first time since the birth of their baby boy: New mother Dannii Minogue ventured out for her first family day out with newborn son Ethan in Australia yesterday. Together with her partner Kris Smith, the couple shopped up a storm at a Melbourne branch of Mothercare so the 13-day-old tot could look super trendy in preparation to meet his Auntie Kylie. Dannii’s older sister Kylie touched down at Melbourne’s Tullamarine Airport at 5am on Monday morning and looked excited to be meeting her new nephew. Proud dad Smith, 32, posted an adorable photo of baby Ethan sleeping peacefully in his pram, as well as another image of smiling Dannii with his pram in Mothercare. Writing on his Twitter, former rugby league player Smith enthused: ‘First day out for the whole family, Dannii running up a storm in Mothercare. / Sleeping peacefully, Ethan was amazing as always today… Such a good boy just like his dad .’ When asked by a Twitter follower if she had bought the whole baby section in Mothercare, Dannii replied: ‘We both went nuts.’ The former Home & Away star, 38, also proclaimed she had ‘of course’ bought baby-sized UGGs boots for her son to wear, as it is currently winter in Australia. Kylie, 42, looked chirpy as she arrived in Melbourne at 5am local time this morning, despite her long-haul flight. She wrote on her Twitter: ‘Whooooppp…I am H*O*M*E in Australia!!!!!!! ’ The former Neighbours star missed out on Ethan’s birth because she was promoting her new album Aphrodite, which went to number one in the UK album charts. But she celebrated the new addition to the Minogue family, writing on her Twitter page: ‘Congratulations to my little sister, Dannii and Kris on their beautiful baby boy, Ethan. He is gorgeous.’ Awww … you can tell that this newly expanded family is just over the moon with happiness. I couldn’t be more thrilled for Dannii and Kris . It’s been a couple of weeks since we learned that football stud Cristiano Ronaldo became the father of a baby boy that he named Cristiano, Jr. but since then little has been revealed about the identity of the babymama … until now. There are new reports out today that claim to know the general identity of the babymama , tho no name has yet been revealed. Read on to find out all the deets about this mysterious babymama as they are being reported (ie. take this information with at least a grain of salt): THE mother of Cristiano ­Ronaldo’s baby is a ­penniless American waitress who the football star seduced with the line: “Me, you, fuck fuck.” But his chat-up line was so blunt, she didn’t understand it. So Ronaldo ­resorted to drawing a love heart on a misted-up window and said: “Me, you, kiss!” Then he whisked her back to his hotel for a one-night stand which left the girl pregnant – and Ronaldo with a £10million paternity bill. Most of the world believed that ­Ronaldo had actually used a surrogate mother to have his baby – but the Sunday Mirror can reveal the truth of his sudden ­unexpected fatherhood. She was totally nonplussed “The window by his table was steamed up, so he drew a love heart on it with his finger. Cristiano Ronaldo Returns Home To Portugal

Earlier today we got our first look at what is believed to be Cristiano Ronaldo ‘s newborn son , whose existence was announced to the world on Facebook about 2 weeks ago , but it turns out that the child may not be Cristiano ‘s son. It turns out Cristiano ‘s sister gave birth to a baby earlier this year and the baby we saw earlier could be her child. In any event, Ronaldo finally decided to leave NYC and return home to Portugal to see his mother … and presumably his son. His very religious family, it turns out, is mortified that Cristiano has decided to cut the babymama out of the picture — oh the drama! Here are photos of Cristiano and his mother at their home and some deets about his family’s reported displeasure with the invisible babymama: CRISTIANO Ronaldo’s family were “gobsmacked” by his decision to be the sole guardian of his new baby son. The soccer star, 25, recently announced that he has become a father for the first time to a little boy, who he has named after himself. But Ronaldo’s plans to raise the boy without his mother has angered the star’s Catholic family members, according to a report in Britain’s Daily Star Sunday newspaper. “Cristiano’s family uphold very traditional Catholic values and believe firmly in the family structure,” a source said. “For them, a baby should be brought up by his mother and father. So when they found out that he would be the sole guardian, to say eyebrows were raised would be an understatement. They were gobsmacked.” Reports last week claimed Ronaldo shelled out almost $20m to the mother of his child — just so she’d keep her mouth shut. The woman in question is believed to be”a party girl” and not someone Ronaldo would “settle down” with. Oh man, here we go. It always seemed to me that Cristiano was always lookin’ to find the level of fame that David Beckham has enjoyed for the past few years … it looks like he’s about to get a taste of what that type of fame is like. A Very Disney Birthday

Firstly, I want to start out by saying THANK YOU ALL so much for all the very sweet birthday messages y’all sent all day long yesterday. On Twitter , on Facebook here in the comments … the outpouring of love was just amazing. I really did have a great birthday and all your warm wishes were a big part of my great day. As I mentioned yesterday , when I was 8 years old I dreamed of spending my birthday at Disneyland … and last night, David and I made that dream come true: With my Birthday Mickey Ears on, David and I had the best time ever at Disney . We rode all my fave rides, ate all my fave junk food and got to see all the shows I wanted to see. If you are interested, you can see a few photos from our fun day yesterday. You have to see what David won for me at the Boardwalk Games at Toy Story Midway Mania , after the jump … After we rode some rides and the folks at Disney outfitted me with a Birthday Badge , I told David that I wanted him to win me a prize. So he bought a game card and successfully won me a stuffed Woody doll. LOL! I really didn’t think he was going to win me anything but he won me the big prize and I was so excited. Woody rode around in my Buzz Lightyear backpack . Yes, I really had my 8 year birthday all over again last night. Even tho I wasn’t really feelin’ my birthday this year, David did everything possible to make sure I had a great day … his hard work and all y’all’s messages really got me into a celebratin’ mood … so thank you, again. No plans for tonight … I have so much to do before I pack up and leave for Paris, France next weekend that I’m prolly just gonna stay in, do laundry, pack and stuff. On Wednesday we learned the happy news that Kylie Minogue ‘s younger sister Dannii Minogue gave birth to her first child this past Monday in Melbourne, Australia . Confirmed: ‘Glee’ Will Do A Britney Spears Episode

Woot!! Great news to pass along today … Glee creator Ryan Murphy has confirmed to Entertainment Tonight that a Britney Spears episode of Glee is in the works . As you may recall, fans started a push to have Glee devote an entire episode to the music of Britney Spears after the show aired their all Madonna episode this past season . Murphy reveals that he is in the process now of writing the ep, which should be included in the show’s second season: While there’s no word if the pop princess herself will appear on the hit show, “Glee” creator/writer Ryan Murphy tells ET that the show is currently in the middle of writing a Spears episode. The hit show, earning 19 Emmy noms Thursday, will also air a big tribute episode after next year’s Super Bowl, but Murphy didn’t reveal which star it will be based on, only hinting that we were “close” by guessing Michael Jackson. Yay!! As much as I loved the all- Madonna ep of Glee (and the fun promo press that came along with it ), I am really excited for this CONFIRMED all- Britney episode. It makes total sense that Glee would want to devote an episode to Britney ‘s fantastic pop music catalog of songs and I would bet very good money that they will get Britney to appear on the show. Everything about this idea just screams of ratings gold! I didn’t want to get excited about rumors of a Britney ep on Glee until I heard something concrete … hearing the good news from Ryan Murphy himself is all I need.
