The Cast Of ‘Green Lantern’ Assembles At 2010 Comic-Con

Earlier today we got to see the first photos of the principal cast of the Marvel Comics film The Avengers assembled together at 2010 San Diego Comic-Con yesterday afternoon and right now we get to see the principal cast of the DC Comics film Green Lantern also assembled at Comic-Con yesterday as well. As you should be well aware by now, Ryan Reynolds plays the lead hero Hal Jordan / Green Lantern alongside Blake Lively as Carol Ferris and villains Mark Strong as Sinestro and Peter Sarsgaard as Dr. Hector Hammond . Here is our first look at all of these actors together on stage at Comic-Con yesterday afternoon: Ryan Reynolds says he took the title role in “Green Lantern” to play a hero that can “throw a punch, tell a joke and kiss a girl.” The actor, along with castmates Blake Lively, Peter Sarsgaard and Mark Strong and director Martin Campbell, presented a clip from the film at Comic-Con Saturday for some 6,000 ecstatic fans, many of whom camped out overnight for a chance to see the presentation. Campbell says the 3-D movie blends realistic action with humor and an otherworldly trip to the planet Oa, home of the Green Lanterns. He added that while the hero’s costume is “a work in progress,” his cinematic story is set: He is joined by his fellow Green Lanterns for a face-off against Parallax, whom Reynolds describes as “the physical manifestation of fear in our movie.” The clip showed Reynolds as Hal Jordan, who, after a fight with street thugs, takes the Green Lantern oath and uses his new powers to blow them away. Reynolds recited the oath for the Comic-Con crowd, which rewarded him with cheers. The cast seemed to embrace the Comic-Con energy, and revealed which characters they’d dress up with if they could walk the convention floor. Reynolds would go as a Wookie because he likes to “be cute and dangerous.” Lively would dress as Harry Potter and Sarsgaard would go as Captain America. Strong said he’d dress as his “Green Lantern” character, Sinestro. DC Comics chief Geoff Johns hinted that other Green Lantern films, and a Justice League movie, could follow: “The success of ‘Green Lantern’ will lead the charge for everything DC does.” It’s really cool to see the principal castmembers all assembled together … I have high hopes that Green Lantern will be a big enough smash film that DC Comics will move forward with films based on their other iconic superheroes … like The Flash and Wonder Woman ! If Green Lantern does well, I’m certain plans will move forward to make other DC superhero films leading up to an eventual Justice League film. I think they got the casting so right for Green Lantern , I can’t wait to see Mark Strong as Sinestro . Promo Photos Of Ryan Reynolds In ‘Green Lantern’ Have Surfaced

Yesterday we got our first look at Ryan Reynolds as Green Lantern on the cover of this week’s issue of Entertainment Weekly magazine . Today we get to check out a couple of the Green Lantern promo photos that are featured inside this issue of EW . First up, a photo of Ryan as GL alter-ego Hal Jordan in possession of his famed power ring: I have to say, while Green Lantern’s ring is all flashy and stuff … I still think that Wonder Woman has THE most fabulous accessories in all of superhero-dom. Hands down. Still, it’s very cool that we get such an early look at Hal Jordan with his very powerful ring. After the jump, check out a promo pic of Reynolds with his Green Lantern co-star Blake Lively who plays love interest Carol Ferris … You know, I really like Blake Lively on Gossip Girl … and I find her a fairly decent actress … but if she messes up this film in any way (not that I think she will but I gotta say if she does ) she will be dead to me. I’m so excited for Green Lantern and I really want it to be awesome. I think Gwyneth Paltrow as Pepper Potts really adds a fun element to the Iron Man movies and I’m hoping that Blake can do the same for Green Lantern . I guess we’ll have to wait and see how everything turns out but, yeah, Blake — I’m putting you on notice I suspect we’ll be seeing even more promo stuff from Green Lantern by the time 2010 San Diego Comic Con rolls around next week. The ‘Gossip Girl’ Guys Film Season 4 In NYC

Last week we saw photos of Ed Westwick in Paris, France filming new scenes for the upcoming 4th season of Gossip Girl and today we see new photos of the young thespian filming scenes for the show back on home turf in NYC, NY. On Wednesday we saw photos of the GG ladies on the NYC set and today it’s all about the dudes. Here are pics of Ed Westwick in various outfits on set in NYC workin’ hard for a living yesterday afternoon: You will note that Ed brought his Parisian co-star Clémence Poesy back to NYC with him for these new scenes … it would appear that Miss Poesy will be featured in the 4th season of Gossip Girl more than I initially thought. I wonder if we’ll be seeing photos of Leighton Meester interacting with Clémence at some point. HMMMM. OH and you will note that Ed is wearing a tank top in a couple of these photos ( Summer of the Tank Top anyone?). My guess is that the tank top shots are of Ed being Ed … not in character as Chuck Bass . I can’t see Chuck being much of a fan of the tank top … but the look sure works for Ed Weswick But anyways, Ed Westwick wasn’t the only Gossip guy hard at work on the show in NYC yesterday afternoon. After the jump, check out photos of pretty boy Chace Crawford filming his GG scenes … I kinda love that Chace Crawford is too fabulous to hold his own umbrella. I’m not sure what is going on, perhaps he thinks that now he’s a Hollywood “It” Boy complete with his very own mug shot that he is the hot shizz? Jude Law Does ‘Safari’ Magazine

A shaved and serious-lookin’ Jude Law is featured on the cover and in the pages of the new issue of the Japanese men’s magazine called Safari (which has previously featured hottie actors like Chris Pine and Jensen Ackles on the cover). Here is our first look at Jude’s hawt new Safari coverphoto: Jude is seriously one of the only guys in Hollywood who can make a receding hairline look hot … and I’m being totally serious. I think he looks best when he’s not trying to grow his hair out to cover his hairline, this shaved look really works for him … as does the white tank top he’s wearing. After seeing photos of Ryan Phillippe and Kellan Lutz rockin’ the tank top and now Jude Law … this Summer looks to be turning into the Summer of the Tank Top — and I wholly approve! Kellan Lutz Takes His Dog For A Walk

Hunky beef of man Kellan Lutz was spotted with his pet pooch on a dog walk as temperatures soared in SoCal yesterday afternoon. While temps have been very cool for the past few weeks, the weather has gotten considerably hotter in recent days … forcing Southern Californians to venture out in public with as little clothing as possible: Unfortunately, Kellan did not venture out to walk his dogs while shirtless but wearing a tight-fitting tank top is about as close to shirtless as you can get without actually being shirtless. Yesterday we saw photos of Ryan Phillippe on the set of his new film rockin’ the tank top and now we get to enjoy photos of Kellan wearing the same. Lindsay Lohan Tries Her Hand At Sober Living

Yesterday we learned that Lindsay Lohan , in a last ditch effort to try and avoid jail by making it look like she is trying to do the right thing, secretly checked herself into a sober living rehab facility called Pickford Lofts (which was founded by Lindsay ‘s new lawyer [and OJ Simpson 's former lawyer] Robert Shapiro ). Today we get to see the first photos of Lindsay “rehabbing” at Pickford Lofts … where, apparently, she can come and go as she pleases … AND can enjoy the company of any visitors (like her enabling mother Dina Lohan ) that she likes: As you may recall, yesterday we saw photos of family ( Dina and little sister Aliana Ali Lohan ) and friends ( Samantha Ronson and Eliat Anschel ) paying late night visits to Lindsay in her temporary new abode … cuz, again apparently, Pickford Lofts is the place to socialize and hang out with folks while one attempts to “clean up” their act. Yeah, no … I find if very hard to believe that Judge Marsha Revel will see this sober living house as an adequate replacement for a jail cell. I just don’t believe Judge Revel will rescind her original 90 day jail sentence to allow Lindsay to serve out the time in this unrestricted pleasure palace rehab facility. I KNOW that District Attorney Danette Meyers is going to argue vehemently for Lindsay to be locked up on July 20. Again, I think it was a brilliant move on Shapiro ‘s part to make this last ditch effort to try and keep L. Lo out of jail but I don’t think it’s gonna work. In all honest, it SHOULD NOT work. Lindsay has been coddled for way too long. Jail managed to turn the lives of both Nicole Richie and Paris Hilton around … it seems to be the only way to make Hollywood “It” Girls learn the lessons that could save their lives. ‘Gossip Girl’ Season 4 Filming Begins In NYC

Last week we saw photos of Blake Lively and Leighton Meester filming new scenes for the upcoming 4th season of Gossip Girl in Paris, France and today we get to see pics from the GG set which has returned home to NYC, NY. Apparently, there is Gossip to be had in the Big Apple while rain fall from above: While I would LOVE to see these two close up their umbrellas and go at it with one another in swordplay, I doubt any such fun thing will actually happen. Blake Lively & Penn Badgley Get Hot, Heavy & Gropey In NYC

Last weekend we saw photos from the Paris, France set of Gossip Girl which has been filming some of its 4th season in the City of Lights all last week and we got a sneak peek of what kind of drama is in store for BFF/frenemies Serena van der Woodsen (played by Blake Lively ) and Blair Waldorf (played by Leighton Meester ). Today we see that Blake has already made her way back home to NYC and was spotted with her GG co-star and real life boyfriend Penn Badgeley lookin’ all hot and heavy together in the Big Apple: No, the couple were not filming a scene for Gossip Girl … they were just being all gropey in real life. You know, I’m actually surprised that these two are still together. I guess I had forgotten that they broke up on the show, not in real life … cuz I’m really bad at separating fact from fiction. Paul Rudd Does ‘GQ’ Magazine

GQ is about to release their annual Comedy Issue and they have made the very wise decision to put the very funny Paul Rudd on the cover. As you may recall, I recently got to watch Clueless on the big screen again for the first time since it was originally released in 1995 and altho I’ve seen the movie COUNTLESS times since its initial release, I was reminded again how great an actor Paul Rudd really is. I love GQ for putting him on the cover. The coverstory features interviews with Zach Galifianakis and Tracy Morgan as well as Mr. Coverboy Rudd … here is our first look at Paul ‘s GQ cover and some excerpts from the interview with all 3 funny men : Tracy Morgan on the importance of being uncool in order to be funny : “Cool is the enemy of funny. You can’t be cool and be funny at the same time. Only Eddie Murphy could do that.” Tracy Morgan on making Obama funny : “Black people joke about it all the time. It’s a black family, so we make fun of it. ‘Michelle, where’s my cigarettes? I had a pack of Kools sitting on the DESTRUCT button!’ I just think that white people don’t want to offend him. Me, I make fun of every fucking body. I don’t care. I never say black humor or white humor. I never put the black race on my back.” Zach Galifianakis on what is “never not funny” : “I think miscommunication is funny. I will never stop a conversation between two people if I’m the third party. My dad was talking to this Greek guy who was telling him about olive soap, soap made out of olives. But my dad was talking about olive soup. And my dad is like, so you put the olive soup all over your body in the shower? It was just the funniest thing.” Zach Galifianakis on the correlation between gaining weight and his success : “I used to be really cute. I could send you earlier photos where I’m stunning. But I’ve gained about twenty pounds over the past two years, and the more weight I’ve put on, the more success I’ve had. If you drew a diagram of weight gain and me getting more work, a mathematician would draw some conclusions from that.” Paul Rudd on how he’d make Jay Leno’s show funnier : “Hire Conan.” Paul Rudd on being known as funny : “I’ve never considered myself to be too much of a comedian. I’ve never considered myself to be too much of anything. I just lucked out and got to work with some really funny people, and somehow have been able to parlay it into a lot of comedies.” LOL … Paul ‘s comment on how to make Leno funnier is SPOT ON! Blake Lively & Leighton Meester Film An Exciting Night Scene For ‘Gossip Girl’

At the start of last week, we saw the first photos from the season 4 set of Gossip Girl which is currently in production in Paris, France . As the week progressed, we saw a few more photos from filming in different parts of the city … but today we get to see the first night-time scenes filmed for the new season. Here is a lovely photo of Leighton Meester (as Blair Waldorf ) and Blake Lively (as Serena van der Woodsen ) preparing to film their scene together near a picturesque fountain in Paris last night: I must warn, tho, that the rest of the photos that I have to share are a bit spoilery. I mean, not spoilery in a way that has never been seen on the show before but spoilery in the way that those of you who wish to be completely surprised by what’s to come in the new seasons might want to avoid looking. I will say the photos feature these ladies involved in a grippingly dramatic scene together … and there is water involved. Curious? Check ‘em out, after the jump … LOL! Okay, you had to know that if a scene involving BFF frenemies Blair and Serena was being filmed next to a water fountain, someone was going to go for a dip. It occurred to me that the ladies were lookin’ way too chummy in the photos that we’ve been seeing all week long. Gossip Girl wouldn’t be Gossip Girl if there wasn’t this sort of fighting between the characters. I have to say, it is a bit of a surprise to see Serena get shoved into the pool, it’s usually Blair who gets embarrassed like this. Ah well, what goes around comes around I suppose. We are still a couple months away from the season 4 premiere of Gossip Girl but I’m already ready for the new eps now. I can’t wait to see this scene when it finally airs.
