Madonna: Denied Adoption in Malawi

She tried her best to adopt a second child from Malawi but earlier today (April 3) Madonna’s bid was rejected by the country’s high court. The “Like a Virgin” songstress has been in the country since this past Sunday (March 29) where she’s been filling out paperwork and doing whatever she can to help the process along. But much to her chagrin, the request was met with hostility from human rights groups and children’s charities. Judge Esmie Chondo ruled, “I must have to decline to grant the application to Madonna.” According to a report, Madge’s request was rejected because of a requirement that adopters must reside in Malawi for anywhere from 1.5 to 2 years prior to the adoption. Madonna is expected to appeal the decision.
